About Us
MRDC Operations Corporation is a private contractor responsible for the maintenance, operation and rehabilitation of the 195 km four-lane divided highway (RAD 120) which is located between the cities of Fredericton and Moncton in the province of New Brunswick.
MRDC was developed in 1998 by their shareholders; Miller Paving, Vinci Concessions, Dragados Y Construcciones and Fomento De Construcciones (FCC), as part of a 30 year term, Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the province of New Brunswick.
This highway, known as the Route 2 Trans Canada highway, was designed and constructed by MRDC and opened to traffic between the periods of 1998 and 2001. Each year MRDC performs Summer and Winter maintenance services with most of the services being completed by the MRDC workforce. The staff, fleet, and facilities for providing these services are housed at four depot sites located at strategic locations along the highway.
Routine Summer Maintenance services generally include activities such as; line painting, asphalt repairs, slope repairs, crack sealing, detailed inspections, patrolling, grass/brush cutting, guide rail repairs, hydro-seeding, illumination & sign repairs, and traffic control.
During the Winter months, MRDC performs patrolling and snow & ice control operations, such as plowing. These activities take place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Winter operations include anti-icing, de-icing and snow removal operations.
